Amazon Alexa is an Artificial Intelligence Assistant, designed to help you at scheduling your day and achieving other goals. Simply give Alexa voice command and she will provide you with the best help she can.

She knows everything: a weather forecast for tomorrow, crude oil prices, the date of the Battle of Hastings, a nearby restaurant, where you can reserve two places for tonight, etc. Alexa can even entertain you with an idle chat and a couple of moderately funny jokes. And when it comes to a certain task — like making a shopping list — she'll be your personal secretary.

Once she's connected to your Wi-Fi network, you can give her orders and assign tasks. Although it's traditionally presented that Alexa runs in the tandem with an Amazon Echo device, she can work solo as well. But to release her full potential, you will need that gadget.

Additionally, Alexa can be integrated into the Smart Home system and automate for you:

  • House temperature.
  • Lights.
  • Surveillance.
  • Security systems.
  • Fire detectors.
  • Domestic appliances etc.

Not to forget that Alexa can also be your personal DJ, making playlists and music catalogues, playing, pausing, and replaying tracks, regulating volume, adding effects, and even do the bass boosting, etc. And the best thing is that she deciphers and obeys your voice commands.

Amazon Alexa is an avid learner: she memorizes your preferences, likes, cultural references you enjoy, vocal patterns, and of course she analyzes your vocabulary to do her work faster and better. Her "memory" and functionality are kept on cloud storage, therefore she can be very flexible adding something new to her work palette every day. To get things going, the Alexa application must be synchronized with the Amazon Echo.

SmartHome system integration is a truly astonishing talent of Alexa. Remotely control or automate:

  • Lights.
  • Air conditioning.
  • TV and entertainment systems.
  • Smart doorbells and locks.
  • Sprinklers.
  • Computers.

And so on.

Appliances and gadgets can be grouped according to where they are placed in your house or what purposes they serve. And their settings can be tweaked via Alexa as well: warmth, brightness, on/off regimes, etc.

Alexa + Amazon Echo duo solve a lot of mundane problems for you. For instance, you can go easy on your vocal chords the next time you're calling the family to the dinner table: instead, Alexa will deliver the message via the Drop-in feature. And if you have more than one Echo device then family communication can be taken to a whole new level. No more going upstairs (when you don't feel like it) to deliver a message — Alexa has got your back.

Ease of Use

A little tasty bonus: Alexa's intelligence is powered by cloud support. That means your phone, be it an Android device or an iPhone, won't run out of internal storage space, even if her digital memory and brains get too massive.
The central conception behind Alexa's existence is to let you save some of your time, which you spend on banal, day-to-day trifles, like making a grocery list.

Plus you don't have to use your fingers, constantly typing one request after another — it's a "hands-free" assistant, which learned to understand human speech pretty good.

Alexa is a miracle when it comes to automating domestic utensils, organizing tasks, scheduling events, and solving some other mundane tasks. And sometimes her assistance is priceless.
